Applications are invited for the positions of Academic Assistants/Associates in the following areas purely on temporary basis:

  1. Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management
  2. Accounts & Finance
  3. Marketing
  4. Decision Sciences & Operations Management

These positions will provide young scholars the opportunity to work with faculty members in respective areas to deepen their understanding of subject matter and also develop a working understanding of the roles and responsibilities of academic life. It is hoped that such experience will help them in choosing careers in research, teaching, academic administration or even civil services.

Roles & Responsibilities: We envisage the following six roles in ascending order of importance and complexity:

  1. Assist faculty in preparing bibliography
  2. Identify and access relevant journal, magazine and newspaper articles
  3. Track videos, story lines in social media
  4. Assist faculty in preparing course material, attend lectures when required, observe student participation in case discussion, mark answer scripts, assist in invigilation etc.
  5. Attend tutorials; guide and counsel students as follow-up
  6. Assist, engage and collaborate with faculty in publication, developing research proposals, and organizing research seminars and conferences
  7. Assist in drafting research proposals
  8. Assist in field studies/ data collection

Qualification & Experience: Typically, a candidate must have Master’s degree in relevant field with 60% marks from a recognized University/ Institute. While prior work experience is not an essential requirement for position of Academic Assistant, those who do possess relevant experience would be preferred. Those desiring to be considered for Academic Associate position would need to demonstrate higher levels of academic accomplishments and experience. Candidates are expected to be fluent in conversation, written communication and computing skills.

Tenure: This is a contractual position, initially offered for a year and renewable on a yearly basis subject to satisfactory performance and work behavior. The maximum tenure of Academic Assistant/Associate will be for three years.

Remuneration: Depending upon quality of qualification and experience, selected candidates will be paid a monthly consolidated salary in the range of Rs. 30,000.

Selection Process:  Shortlisted candidates will need to appear for personal interview. Such candidates will be reimbursed travel costs as per the Institute norms. The selected candidates are expected to join within three weeks from the date of such offer.

General Conditions:

  1. The Institute (Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur) reserves the right to devise its criteria for short listing the candidates for the mentioned positions. The duly constituted Screening Committee will shortlist the candidates adopting such criteria. Candidates should, therefore, mention in their resume all the qualifications and experience in the relevant area over and above the minimum prescribed qualification and ensure that all details are complete and accurate.
  2. The decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of any/all applications, fixing the eligibility criteria, equivalence of qualifications, mode of screening/selection, conduct of interview, will be final and binding on the candidates.
  3. No interim correspondence or personal enquiries shall be entertained by the Institute.
  4. The Institute solely reserves the right not to fill any or all the advertised positions without assigning any reason.
  5. Addendum/deletion/corrigendum (if any) shall be posted on the Institute website only.
  6. Canvassing of any nature and/or bringing any influence/pressure from any quarter will be treated as a disqualification for the post.
  7. Correspondence, if any, from the Institute including interview call letter of the short listed candidates shall be sent to the e-mail ID provided by the candidate.
  8. The Screening Committee duly constituted by the Institute (IIM Sirmaur) may keep area specific written test in addition to personal interview for the screening of candidates.
