Sierra 2020: Annual Fest of IIM Sirmaur Begins

“Sierra 2020”, the Annual Fest of IIM Sirmaur, began with a grand inaugural ceremony today morning. The show kicked off with a lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest, the Director of the Institute, Professor Neelu Rohmetra. The Director congratulated the student’s organizing team of the institute for their splendid efforts in making this fest a grand success. The Annual fest is being organized by student clubs and committees under the guidance of faculty and staff of the institute.

During her Inaugural address Professor Rohmetra reiterated the resolve of IIM Sirmaur to march ahead its journey to become a world-class institute.  “By organising the mega event today IIM Sirmaur has been able to exhibit its capability and motivation as an empowered institution”, she said. She further motivated the participating team by saying that such events bring in learning and open platform to showcase management skills. The Director congratulated in particular Ishant Taneja and Hozefa Hussain, second year students of the institute for an excellent overall co-ordination of the fest. 


The Annual fest “Sierra 2020” at IIM Sirmaur will host a combination of 27 Management, Cultural and Sports events. More than 500 participants representing around 30 Institutes from across the Country have reached the IIM Sirmaur Campus. It is expected that the fest will witness a footfall of over 1000 in numbers over two days.

The first day of the fest witnessed Management events “Ophzeus” organized by Scope-the Operations Club, followed by “Strategos” and “Cognizance” organized by the “Spin Masters- the strategy club” and “Consulere, the Consulting Club” Apple-o-nomics by “Finserve club” respectively.

Management events like “Take – Off” , “Daayitva”, “Capital Market Workshop”, “Enigma” , “Marka Wars” shall be held on the second day of the fest.


The sporting arena also witnessed the scintillating athletic prowess of athletes. The luminescent morning of Saturday witnessed various sporting events like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Badminton. Subsequent to hard-fought morning, one of the cultural mainstays of the fest, “Hip Hop International (HHI)” conducted its auditions followed by a brief workshop for all the selected candidates.

The Cultural night performance by the “Band – The Mixtape” enthralled the audience. Some of the prominent participating institutions are IIM Khashipur, IIT Roorkee, IIFT Delhi, IMI Delhi, IIM Lucknow, IMI Bhubaneswar, Welingkar Mumbai, NIT Andhra Pradesh, UBS Panjab University Chandigarh, Shoolini University, Solan, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, DIT University, Dehradun, BMU ,Gurgaon, SIBM, Nagpur etc. The main attraction of the 2nd day of the fest is the Mega cultural performance by famous Punjabi singer “Akhil”.
